Why 500 Students Have Applied to SMSB Elite and You Should Too

The Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy proudly announces its free 23-24 season! The number one inclusive student-athlete program in America, known for combining training development, travel exposure, college readiness, recruitment, and parent advisement through a proven curriculum, is now accepting nominations.

Sound Mind Sound Body (SMSB) started as a youth football camp almost two decades ago, extending to an all-year program. As a result of recognizing that kids needed more than a one-day camp to support their growth and development, the focus of the year-round program morphed into an angel of college readiness. The off-season program quickly grew to hone in on parent advisement, speed and development training, position and skill development, 7v7, life skill advancement, attending camps, recruiting and college visits, mentoring, and traveling nationwide.

Since the program’s expansion, we have seen a surge in participation as hundreds of kids have come from Canada and all over the Midwest region to be a part of our elite program: Indiana, Illinois, Lansing, and Grand Rapids. Notable student-athletes like NFL draft pick Sauce Gardner, Will Johnson from Michigan, and Kalen King from Penn State have participated in our program.

Last year, participation soared to over 300 members. Thanks to the growth of the Sound Mind Sound Body Academy, sponsors, and partnerships, we can offer this program for free for all 8-18-year-old students in the metro Detroit area. Elite training for the program is in Wixom and at Country Day.

Although the program is now 100% free, there is a very rigorous selection process for all potential members. The first step is to obtain a nomination form, attend parent and student orientation meetings, complete an in-person interview, and participate in official workout and training sessions; those who do well are selected to be on the traveling team and participate in the program. Official team announcements are made through our social media platforms before sending direct team instructions.

Sunday, October 8th, 100 people attended the first round of interviews and so far, over 500 people are on the waiting list for the SMSB Elite training program. The next round of interviews consisting of 100 top student-athletes will be in November, and the last round of interviews consisting of another 100 top student-athletes will be in December.
