Sound Mind Sound Body Youth Association’s Football Championship games kick off this Friday! We are eager to report the legendary standoff of the two standing teams in each division taking the field October 26-27. Friday night’s game will be held under the lights at East English Village High School, while Saturday’s games will be collegiate experience across the Tom Adams field at Wayne State University.
The two-day event will consist of teams fighting to the last second to win the championship title and advance to the state championship. Last year, 18 semi-final teams took the field, and nine teams left Sound Mind Sound Body Football Champions: 6u Southfield Falcons, 7u West 7 Rams, 8u Southfield Falcons, 9u Southfield Falcons, 10u West 7 Rams, 11u Westside Steelers, 12u Southfield Falcons, 13u Southfield Falcons, and 14u Eastside Raiders.
The weekend will be unforgettable as metro Detroit’s best youth league gets a sense of being on a college campus, an opportunity most youth athletes haven’t experienced. The thrilling show of athletes striving for the SMSBYA Football Championship title will be a stunning feature of sportsmanship, expertise, and legendary football energy.
Winners of the championship will be one step closer to making their way to the AYF State Championship, an opportunity SMSBYA has dominated in the past.
Join us to root for the city’s best talent and applaud your favorite team. Various vendors, including Twinz Taco and Motor City Meats II, will be present throughout the two-day event.
Friday night’s championship game at East English starts at 7 p.m. Saturday’s championship game begins at 10 a.m at Wayne State. Tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event.
