SMSB City Champions Head to the AYF State Championship

 

In a showcase of metro Detroit’s finest competitors, the Sound Mind Sound Body 2023 Detroit Youth Football City Playoff October 27-28 event was successful. Elite teams demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, skill, and teamwork during the two-day event. Friday night’s championship games for the 7u and 8u divisions occurred on the Motor City’s eastside, at East English Village. Saturday’s games occurred at Tom Adams Field, located on Wayne State University’s campus, for the 6u, 9u-14u divisions. 

Eight teams successfully marked their place in history as champions of SMSB’s 2023 Detroit Youth Football City Playoffs.

7u The Detroit Titans and the West 7 Rams, 7 to 0

8u The Southfield Falcons and the Detroit City Lions, 7 to 6

Oct 28 – Wayne State University (location)

6u The Oldtown Ducks and the Southfield Falcons, 12 to 6

Defensive player of the game: Giovonni Williams (Ducks)

MVP: Mekhi English (Ducks)

9u The Southfield Falcons and the Detroit Spartans, 34 to 0 

Offensive player of the game: Dechristian Whitfield (Falcons)

Defensive player of the game: William McMichael II (Falcons)

MVP: Austin Davis (Falcons)

10u The Southfield Falcons and the Detroit Titans, 14 to 12

Offensive player of the game: Tyler Williams (Titans)

Defensive player of the game: Albert Chaverst (Falcons)

14u The Westside Steelers and the Southfield Falcons, 16 to 6 

Offensive player of the game: Jeremiah Cross (Falcons)

12u The Southfield Falcons and the Westside Steelers, 40 to 6

11u The Westside Steelers and the West 7 Rams, 13 to 2

The City Champions will be advancing to the State Championship in November. Congratulations to all winners, and thank you to all competitors, volunteers, organizations, and fans for an extraordinary time of football greatness throughout the 2023 season.
