“Education Is a Pathway Out of Poverty,” SMSB Celebrates Decision Day for Talent Search Students

Decision Day for student participants of the Talent Search program is a day to glory in collective hard work and perseverance as many prepare for their postsecondary education.

The program, facilitated by Sound Mind Sound Body, serves 500 students in Denby, East English, Martin Luther King Jr., and Harper Woods High School.

Talent Search aims to increase the number of youth who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. Decision Day for this distinct group reflects the academic, career, support, and financial aid information and resources provided during the school year.

Well-qualified and passionate experts helped students make the best-informed decision for the following chapter.

College Success Coach Jennifer Smith, who worked with students regularly, believes “education is a pathway out of poverty.” Acknowledging that “there are not always programs and infrastructures in place to help kids meet their goals,” Talent Search is the exception.

“We believe students who participate in the program are a step above everyone else as it pertains to having informational tools to aid in their success. We support all of our students no matter where they go.”

Congratulations to all of the student graduates of 2023. Sound Mind Sound Body is proud to continuously serve in increasing the number of youth matriculating to postsecondary education through strategic planning, exposure, and opportunities.
