Wayne State’s Showcase: Elite Players Produced Speed, Speed and More Speed

DETROIT – Look no further if you were looking for speed at the Wayne State ’National College Showcase.’ The fastest time was a 4.38 run by 2025 RB Ronny Johnson from Dexter HS in Michigan. Johnson tested well in the shuttle and the L drill to go along with speed. Johnson has a nice size for the RB position at 5’11 185 lbs. Johnson ran for over 1600 yards in his sophomore campaign. If Johnson continues his camp visits and posts similar numbers, he will be a wanted man by the time his senior year starts. He’s on the radar for near-future college offers.

The linebacker group was the fastest in the entire camp. Yes, the linebackers were the highlight in terms of speed. The linebacker group had over six guys run within the 4.4 and 4.5 range. 2024 LB Jimmy Lacey led that unexpected group from Leblanc HS in Michigan. Lacey clocked a 4.4 in the forty at 6’0 190lbs. Lacey plays outside linebacker and wide receiver, but his primary position at the next level will be at LB. After watching his film and performance during the camp, Lacey will undoubtedly be an excellent steal for any school.

2024 WR Charlie Becker from Father Ryan HS in Nashville, TN, was one of the fastest receivers at the camp. Becker ran a 4.44 at 6’4, 200lbs. Becker uses his body well when contesting for balls thrown in his area. He also excels in the return game. When watching Becker on film, he has plenty of speed after he catches the ball. His RAC yards are through the roof. Becker also drilled well and ran good routes throughout the day at the camp. Becker already holds offers from Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Indiana, and Iowa.

2025 DB Cameron Jamerson from Etiwanda HS in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, was the fastest DB at the camp. Jamerson clocked a 4.5 at 6’1, and 170 lbs. Jamerson also drilled well from his defensive back position during individual sessions. Jamerson already has offers from Syracuse, UNLV, and Washington. Jamerson will see stock soar if he keeps putting together good performances on the camp circuit.
