Exciting news! The Sound Mind Sound Body Youth Association hosted a successful schedule release party on April 13th at They Say Restaurant. The party revealed the SMSBYA 2023 schedule of events and allowed each organization to build camaraderie within the league.
The party had a big turnout, with representatives from all ten organizations present. Teams enjoyed free food and music while dates and event locations were released every few minutes. Attendees had the chance to share their excitement for the upcoming season through the SMSB podcast.
Coach Jay from the West Seven Rams showed great enthusiasm after the release of his organization’s schedule. He spoke of a highly anticipated game early in the season, “We got a championship rematch! Week one with the Southfield Falcons. That’s going to be sold out.”
With much to look forward to this season, unity and good
sportsmanship were in high volume. “I wish all the teams good luck on the east and the west side. We are going to have a good competitive year, and hopefully, we’ll see where it ends up,” shared Ms. Reed from the Eastside Raiders.
The Schedule Release Party was just the beginning of an epic year for the SMSBYA. Efforts to engage with the community and construct meaningful experiences for growing boys and girls are in full effect. Conquering our goal is done through a united community of coaches, parents, and volunteers that share a common purpose and language.
Sound Mind Sound Body Youth League has over 1,100 volunteers who spend approximately 300 hours annually giving back to Metro Detroit youth. Sound Mind Sound Body’s after-school program is a unique curriculum that ensures students matriculate to post-secondary education by successfully prioritizing and balancing life skills, athleticism, and academics.
