SMSBYA Recognizes Student-Athlete of the Month Joseph Johnson Jr.

We are thrilled to announce our overall Football Student of the Month for September, Joseph Johnson Jr.!

Joseph Johnson Jr., a 6th grader at Detroit Enterprise Academy, has played for the Detroit Titans for six years straight. The 10u Right Guard has maintained a 4.0 GPA for the past two years, a notable achievement his coaches, parents, and family are incredibly proud of. His ability to lead by example, great attitude, and academic accomplishments make him an exceptional example of what it means to be student-athlete of the month.

“Joseph leads by example by working his hardest to be the best. Joseph is a hard worker and pays attention to detail,” shared 10U head coach Jared Hoover.

“Joseph has always kept high academic standards and continues to work hard to keep those standards high.”

As an exceptional student-athlete, Joseph attributes his ability to maintain excellent grades while participating in sports to “always doing his work and not playing around” and his parents, who are adamant about holding him accountable and pushing him to the next level.

Joseph is already planting his feet in entrepreneurship through his small business of selling candy and starting a lawn service. The possibilities for Joseph are endless between his love for boxing, math, football, and entrepreneurship.

When asked about one thing he wanted the world to know about him, he shared, “My desire to win.”

We are so proud to have Joseph Johnson Jr. as a remarkable student-athlete of the SMSBYA. He exemplifies the characteristics and enthusiasm for hard work and development we hope to imprint on all our youth athletes.
