The Detroit City Lions Represent Big During Summer Showcase

Sound Mind Sound Body and Detroit PAL presented one of Detroit’s biggest collaborations last weekend. The Detroit City Lions vs. the Michigan Outlawz Summer Showcase merged communities throughout the field of DEPSA High School. The fundraising event was an opportunity for young athletes to compete and make adjustments ahead of the season.

Sports enthusiasts were in full force to watch the action-packed Summer Showcase. With slight rain throughout the day, athletes gained a sense of performing through unanticipated conditions.

Head Coach Z’jon of the Detroit City Lions 9u shared insight on the event, “It was really nice and well put together. We played a good team and got to see some things we needed to work on. It was overall a good day.”

In giving some overall end-goals for his athletes, Coach Z’jon shared, “I expect them to be better than before they came to me. Let’s get some wins along the way, but I hope they become better players and better young men outside of football.”

The fun-filled day allowed athletes and coaches to gain a sense of performing and competing against other skilled teams. The Detroit City Lions never seize a moment to push the needle of excellence while also providing spaces of support to their athletes as they learn and grow.

The Detroit City Lions Cheerleaders were full of energy as they controlled the tempo of team chants and crowd participation. The young ladies stunned the crowd during their exceptional halftime performance, leaving spectators with high expectations for what’s to come throughout the year for all athletes.
