Under the Radar Talent Is Another Wow Factor For the High School 7v7 Event

DETROIT: Sound Mind Sound Body is one day away from hosting its fifth annual 7v7 High School Showcase at Wayne State University.

As notable players and powerhouse teams are set to make their way to one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, SMSB is eager to provide a platform for players to compete and make an early mark in the preseason.

Participating schools are traveling from across all parts of Michigan to showcase their skills and display a bit of school pride: Detroit Edison, Detroit Central, Ferndale, De La Salle, Ecorse, East English, Redford Union, Orchard Lake St. Marys, North Farmington, UofD Jesuit, Lakeshore, ML King, West Bloomfield, Belleville, Grosse Pointe North, Southfield A&T, Roseville, Walled Lake Western, Fordson, Pershing, Denby, Oak Park, Henry Ford, Renaissance, University Prep, Battle Creek, Cass Tech, River Rouge, Harper Woods, Canton HS, and Loyola High School.

The school lineup will be a sight to see; however, another wow factor is the under-the-radar talent throughout the two-day event:

2024 WR Amire Harris– Denby(MI)- Harris is a long WR with good ball skills. Harris is 6’2 170. He plays QB most of the time for his HS team so that lets you know that he’s a good athlete. Harris has decent speed. Harris has two offers: Air Force and Army

2024 WR Ramonty Houze Jr– Harper Woods(MI) Houze is small but he’s exciting to watch. Houze is dangerous in the return game. He makes KO/PR look so easy like he’s in a video game. Houze is fast, has good hands, he’s elusive and he knows how to get RAC yards. Sleeper prospect with big time talent. One to look out for.

2024 WR Kevin Simes– Belleville(MI)- Simes is small but makes plays with the ball in his hand. Simes is cat quick, tough and dangerous in the return game. He has good speed and you’re not catching him from behind if he gets behind the defense. He will make plays at the next level because he has that big play ability that you look for in prospects. Good prospect

2026 CB Dijon Wilson– River Rouge(MI)- Wilson is long at 6’ 170 pounds. Wilson knows how to make plays on the ball,he has better range then most of the guys I’ve watched over the last few months at the safety position. Wilson is a young prospect with a promising future if he can continue doing what he did in 22. Wilson is not afraid to tackle for a kid that was only a freshman last year on the varsity level. Look for this kid to blow up after this event this week. One to watch.

2027 ATH-Darryl Flemister– King(MI)- Flemister is a young prospect with good size already for the cornerback position. Flemister stands at 5’11 and he has long arms that will help him keep defenders in front of him. He will get some of his best work in practice that will prepare him for the varsity level. It won’t take long before Flemister cracks the starting lineup. Flemister has a promising future. One to watch.

2026 WR-Damion King-DLS- King is a playmaker whenever he touches the ball. He’s on the small side but makes up for it with his big play ability. King will be one of the top WRs in the state of Michigan by the time he’s a senior if he can keep putting together seasons like he had last year. Look for him to duplicate this season.

2024 WR-Jordan Anderson– DEPSA- Anderson is a big target at WR standing at 6’3. Anderson uses his length well when attacking the ball in the air. Anderson is a two sport athlete with the other sport being basketball. Would like to see how his route running improves this year. If Anderson can do, he will be a total package and his offer list will grow. He has five offers right now.

2024 CB- Phillip Cato– U of D- Will be a player to watch over the course of the season. Cato makes plays on both sides of the ball. This event will be big for him if he can make plays out there like he does in season. Under the radar prospect.

2025 ATH-Lamont Wilcoxson– Cass Tech- Big time prospect with early offers going into his junior campaign. Wilcoxson made plays all over the field last year for the Technicians. His future will most likely be on the defensive side of the ball at the next level. He has good size at 5’11 170 for the cornerback position. Look for his offer sheet to grow if he can duplicate what he did last season. Power 5 prospect.

2024 CB Decarlos White– Central- White is a under the radar prospect who can cover the deep ball and the underneath routes. Would like to see him clean up some of the technical stuff from his cornerback position but other than that White is a solid prospect. He has decent size at 5’10 170. If White can put it all together in his final campaign, look for him to gain interest from smaller schools. Keep an eye on.

Talent will be plentiful during the event. Over thirty schools have been working hard to compete and put on a show of skill.

Admission is $15 for a two-day pass, and $10 for one day entry. Tickets can be purchased from Eventbrite.

Assessments: Cedrick Wilson
