Sound Mind Sound Body Recognizes Summer Interns for Their Contributions
DETROIT, Michigan — Every summer, Sound Mind Sound Body provides internship opportunities that equip college students with hands-on experience. This year, two returning SMSB alumni, Malachi McGee and Anthony Sims, have joined the organization for another summer. Both are entering their third year of college and have been working with SMSB for two years.
Malachi McGee
Malachi, a junior attending Arkansas Baptist College majoring in Business Management, plays an important role in supporting building maintenance and camp coordination efforts. His duties include organizing and maintaining the headquarters, while also assisting with student-athlete communication for various football camps. A Harper Woods High School graduate, Malachi has participated in SMSB’s elite football programming, which prepares student-athletes for college-readiness through opportunities such as college tours, showcases, HBCU events, and direct connections with college coaches. His involvement includes Sunday Workouts, and the Big Man Showcase and its affiliated camps.
While off the clock, Malachi enjoys weightlifting and playing video games. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in business analytics, where he can use data to help businesses grow.

Anthony Sims
Anthony, a junior at the University of Arkansas, is majoring in Agribusiness with a concentration in Economics. He assists with camp management and supports multiple summer programs to help ensure daily operations run smoothly. During his time at Harper Woods High School, Anthony participated in football, track, and wrestling. He was also a part of SMSB’s Talent Search, a mentoring program focused on preparing students for life after high school, as well as SMSB’s OST program, which is centered around mentoring, health and wellness, college exploration, financial literacy, and much more. After spending five years in SMSB programs before his internship, Anthony returned to continue his support.
In his personal time, Anthony enjoys investing in the stock market, further expanding his passion for all things finance. He intends to pursue a career in economics or agricultural law, combining his interests in business and agriculture.

Through their work at SMSB, both interns have continued to strengthen their communication, leadership, and professionalism skills while helping pour into SMSB’s goal of increasing college-readiness through extracurricular activities.
