Detroit, MI – The Sound Mind Sound Body Foundation (SMSB) is proud to announce it has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC) for Fiscal Year 2025. This competitive grant, awarded through the MACC peer review process, will support SMSB’s ongoing mission to provide high-quality arts and culture programming for youth and families in Detroit’s District 4.
The MACC grant will enable SMSB to expand its arts education offerings. These improvements will increase access to the arts, providing new opportunities for creative expression, skill development, and community engagement.
“We are honored to receive this support from MACC,” said Curtis Blackwell II, President and Co-Founder of SMSB. “With these resources, we can further our commitment to inspiring Detroit youth through the arts, building stronger communities, and fostering lifelong learning.”
SMSB’s arts and culture programs are open to the public and designed to serve one of Michigan’s most underserved regions, where youth benefit from expanded access to creative opportunities.
Local support for the project includes contributions from community partners, volunteers, and private donors.
