Detroit, MI – May 20, 2025 – Sound Mind Sound Body, in partnership with the MiLeap and community organizations, will host the Out-of-School Time (OST) Spring Showcase on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Wayne State University Field House, 1290 W Warren Ave, Detroit, MI 482011.
This year’s theme, “A Celebration of Success,” highlights the achievements of Detroit youth, recognizing outstanding students, dedicated staff, and valued program vendors. The event will feature student showcases, interactive exhibits, and special awards, demonstrating the impact of OST programming on academic growth, social development, and community engagement.

- Academic Gains:
Students in the OST program achieved an average improvement of two grade levels in literacy, thanks to targeted interventions and a partnership with Beyond Basics. - Whole-Child Development:
Over 40 partners collaborate to deliver a comprehensive curriculum, supporting academic, social, and emotional growth for Detroit youth. - College & Career Exposure:
More than half of participants experienced their first college tour this year, with many earning college offers and scholarships for 2025. - Family Engagement:
96.6% of parents report their children enjoy school more since joining the program, and 95.7% see improved academic performance. - Health & Wellness:
Daily free meals and nutrition education empower students to make healthy choices and support overall well-being. - Community Trust:
90% of families intend to re-register for the program in 2026, reflecting high satisfaction and trust in OST services.
